About the project

The Employment for Asylum Seekers in Satakunta project was initiated as a response to the need to bring together skilled labor and employers in Satakunta. Many industries and various companies in the region suffer from a shortage of labor. On the other hand, asylum seekers motivated to find employment are lacking opportunities to utilize their expertise and experience. The Employment for Asylum Seekers in Satakunta project provides support to both parties. We create opportunities for encounters and for improving equality in employment.

The project is targeted at:

  • Satakunta-based asylum seekers registered at the Pori Reception Center and Ukrainians who have applied for temporary protection
  • All employers in the Satakunta region
  • The indirect target group of the project also includes immigration officials and organizations in the Satakunta region, the cooperation of which we support by organizing networking events and forums.

Our working methods are based on networking, and we cooperate with the Pori Reception Center and the Pori branch of the Finnish Red Cross.

The project is managed by Diaconia University of Applied Sciences, and it is participated in by the Western Finland Diaconia Institute Foundation.

The project is funded by the European Social Fund, and it will be active from 1 September 2022 to 31 December 2023.
